ABSTRACT

This study presents a comparative phytochemical analysis of the roots of Cyperus rotundus L. and Cyperus alternifolius using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Bioactive plant compounds were identified based on retention time, mass spectral fragmentation patterns, and molecular weight. The analysis revealed 22 bioactive compounds in the roots of Cyperus rotundus L. and 30 bioactive compounds in the roots of Cyperus alternifolius. These findings highlight the phytochemical diversity of the two Cyperus species and their potential biological applications, paving the way for further research into their therapeutic and pharmacological properties.
